Special districts draft budgets

HUERFANO- The Huerfano County Water Conservancy District has drafted its 2009 budget, which is now displayed for public inspection at Walsenburg City Hall during regular business hours.  The District, which has an operating reserve, expects $22,903 in revenues and $23,775 in expenses in 2009.  The budget is set for adoption on December 10.  The Water Conservancy District is funded solely by a mill levy on property taxes.  Its primary function is to monitor District 2 water cases and other activities that affect the Huerfano and Cucharas River basins.  The Board of Directors includes: Raymond Harriman, John Vucetich, Dawson Jordan, Ray Ryan and Erin Jerant.

    The Upper Huerfano Conservation District has drafted its 2009 budget, which is on file for public inspection at the District office, 711 Walsen Avenue, Suite A, Walsenburg.  The District’s office hours are Mondays 8 am to 4:30 pm, Tuesdays 8 am to noon and Fridays 8  am to noon.  The District expects $79,097.35 in revenues and $75,097.38 in expenses in 2009.  The budget is set for adoption on December 11.  The Conservation District is funded by a half-mill property tax, and leverages grants and State Conservation Board funding to sponsor cost-share programs for landowners, a Conservation Technician, school programs and contests, and public information and education programs.  The Board of Supervisors includes: Jim Hribar, Paul Neldner, Ron Busch, Carol Dunn and Bill Riggins.
