SPACE TO CREATE TRINDIAD GROUNDBREAKING TO BE HELD ON MONDAY, JUNE 11, 2018

TRINIDAD – June 6, 2018 – The City of Trinidad will be hosting a groundbreaking celebration for the Space to Create Trinidad project on Monday, June 11, 2018 in Downtown Trinidad.  The event will begin at 12:00 noon and go throughout the afternoon ending at 5:00 p.m. with presentations and special remarks beginning at 2:00 p.m.  W. Main Street will be shut down between Beach and Convent Streets and the celebration will be set up in the street and in Miner’s Memorial Park.  Bucket’s will be offering chopped brisket and pulled pork sandwiches and sides for $5.00 beginning at Noon.  The Trinidad Youth Group and Las Animas County 4H Club will be passing out water and special cookies provided by Colie’s Cakes & Pastries.  Music will start at noon and run throughout the entire event.  The Flotbots will take the stage at 1:15 a.m. prior to the presentations and special remarks at 2:00 p.m. and the band 2MX2 will follow up on stage at 3:15 p.m. 

The groundbreaking celebration is to kick off the rehabilitation of the Space to Create Trinidad project which will provide 41 live/work spaces and 20,000 square feet of community space.  The project is valued at $17M and will serve as a catalyst for downtown revitalization.  The project encompasses three historic buildings located at 200 – 228 W. Main Street.  The event is free and open to the public, all are invited to attend and help the City of Trinidad, Artspace and the many development partners celebrate this transformational project.
