Senator Mark Udall to Keynote Mother Jones Dinner

 WALSENBURG— Exciting news from Treasurer Kathy Brown enlivened the Huerfano County Democratic Party meeting last Thursday at La Plaza Inn. Senator Mark Udall has agreed to be the keynote speaker at the Mother Jones Dinner, Saturday, June 28. The first annual fund raising dinner is named for after the Labor icon, Mother Jones. The petite lady played an important role in Huerfano County history as well as being a symbol of many of the issues still important to the Democratic Party today. Abel Tabia, candidate for Congressional District 3, will also speak. The dinner will be catered by La Plaza Inn, ticket prices will be $30 per plate. More information will be available soon. In other business, the county party heard a report about the State Assembly from Dale Lyons; voted to keep the current county officers on the central committee until 2016; and set a voter registration training session for Thursday, May 22, 5:30pm at Spanish Peaks Library. The next regular

meeting of the Huerfano Democrats will be Thursday, May 15 at 5:30 pm at La Plaza Inn. This is the only regularly scheduled meeting before the June 24 primary and the June 28 Mother Jones Dinner. All interested Democrats are encouraged to attend.
