School logo will be stamped in to new field

WALSENBURG-      The  Re-1 school board met Tuesday evening at the administration building for a regular board meeting.  One item on the agenda that was discussed were the  bids for the sports complex.  Two companies submitted proposals, American Civil Constructors and Professional Turf Solutions.  The board found both companies met the guidelines, and after discussions and comparisons of the two bids made their decision to go with Professional Turf Solutions.

The board approved the bid of $470,600.  The work to be done will include a synthetic turf system, goal posts, a drainage system, and the delivery of the field maintenance equipment.  It will also include an eight year warranty on materials and workmanship, and is designed to withstand many weather conditions as well as maintaining itself throughout the years to come.  The project is set to begin as soon as the all contractual documents are in place and the weather cooperates.

Professional Turf Solutions has generously agreed to place a 39 foot by 37 foot  school logo on the fifty yard line at no additional expense to the district.   The logo will be manufactured as part of the artificial turf itself.

Huerfano County submitted a bid proposal for the Tioga building and old football field.  The County hoped to use the building and football field for the construciton of a new fire department facility.  The County also mentioned they would like to allow the students to continue to use the football field as needed. The board voted to table the decision until the workshop meeting in February, and would discuss details on the bid at that time.

The board was presented with a surplus property list from the schools for review and acceptance.  The board decided to dispose of items that are not needed.  The first option of purchasing these items would go to the staff first and then be released for the public to purchase.  The district also donated a surplus file cabinet to the Huerfano County Park and Recreation District.
