Santa Fe League All-Conference First Team

WALSENBURG- Katie Monahan, a senior at John Mall High School, was named to the Santa Fe League All-Conference Team for her outstanding play in volleyball this past season.  Monahan was also chosen to participate in the Colorado Coaches of Girls′ Sports (CCGS) All-State Volleyball Games.  She will play at Arvada West High School on  Sun. Nov. 22.  The first game starts at 9 am and will represent athletes from the 1A division.  The  2A action starts at 10:30 am. 

    CCGS began sponsoring an All-State Volleyball Game in 1978 to provide girls a showcase for talent. The Games are recruiting students to draw attention to their athletic skills.  Monahan can also be selected to the Colorado Coaches Association games next summer.  Each senior athlete is nominated by coaches in her league while coaches representing all the leagues make the final selection of 90 athletes.  Players are chosen based on talent, dedication, team play and leadership.

    Other members of the Panther squad receiving honorable mention included seniors Angel Jennings and Rachael Montez and junior Nakita Vigil.  Congratulations to these fine young athletes and the rest of the Panther squad who gave their fans an exciting season.  To us, you are all All-Conference.
