by Eric Mullens

S. COLO — A 19-year old Rye, Colorado teen died in a single vehicle traffic accident Friday, Feb. 23 in El Paso County.

Colorado State Patrol Technician T.A. Ortiz reported Aspen Jones, 19, was driving a 1997 Honda CRV south bound on I-25 at mile marker 125 at approximately 2:17 pm when Jones lost control and the Honda traveled off the right hand side of the highway and rolled one time.

Trooper Ortiz’s report indicates Jones was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation although alcohol use or excessive speed do not appear to be factors in the accident.
