Redskins lose to Sanford

SANFORD- The La Veta boys basketball team fell to the Sanford Indians last Friday, 57-46.  The Redskins faced the toughest defense in the league.  They were unable to set up shots and were forced to shoot from the outside. Overall, the team shot 22 of 49 from the field and went 0-13 from the outer half-circle.  Dakota Mason continued to lead the Redskins’ scoring with 28 points.  He was equally dominant under the boards, pulling in 7.  Josiah Christian scored 10.   From the opening tip off, La Veta fell behind and played catch-up all afternoon.  The Skins made a game of it early in the fourth, but were forced to foul late in the game, which widened the margin of victory.

With the loss, the Skins fell to 8-4 and to third place in the Southern Peaks league. They will have a chance to pick up some ground when they return to the Redskin home court.  Antonito (3-7) will be here tomorrow and the Del Norte Tigers (2-8) on Saturday.
