MOSCA, ANTONITO- The La Veta men’s basketball team won the final two games of the season in dramatic fashion. On Thursday, the Skins defeated Sangre, 63-51. Dakota Mason scored a record high of 32 points and pulled in 14 boards. Josiah Christian hit 12 points and pulled 8 boards. The game went back and forth in the first quarter, but the Skins settled down in the second and pulled ahead for good.
On Friday, La Veta had trouble with Antonito, losing their lead as they opened the second half. The Skins found themselves trailing by one after three. As the fourth opened up, the Redskins settled down and found the bucket, pulling ahead near the end of the game.
The Redskins are preparing for district playoffs with a game Tuesday night. They played Sangre de Cristo in the opening pig tail round of the tournament. (See banner box for score.)
