LA VETA — Last Saturday the La Veta basketball teams won big at home against the Crested Butte Titans. The gym was packed with fans as the Redskins hosted the Titans.
The Lady Redskins were on fire and never let up as they defeated the Titans, 42 to 24. Senior Jacey Day and sophomore Ashton Rinker were the high scorers for the game. Once again Day had the most rebounds with 15. This week freshman Rena Trujillo was player of the week.
The boys’ basketball team held the Crested Butte Titans to 38 points and defeated the Titans, 61 to 38. Senior Josiah Christian had 23 points and Junior Kyon Kreutzer had 10 points in the game.
The Redskins will host the Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds tomorrow; games begin at 3:30 pm starting with the JV girls. Then on Saturday the teams are at home against South Park. Both of these games are league games. This will be the first time the Redskins meet up with either of these teams.
