Re-1 on the move

by Amanda Martin

WALSENBURG- The Huerfano school district Re-1 met Tuesday evening at the John Mall High school library.  The board mentioned that the move to the Washington School is almost complete, and that the administration building on Seventh Street is now empty.  The daycare facility will be doing plumbing work within the next few days and building a new wall soon thereafter. They hope to be approved, moved in to the old admin facility, and ready to operate soon.  The letter of approval that was needed to move forward with the repairs was approved to be attached to the contract.

John Mall senior Kyle Pino with the help of some staff have created a new web site with information that is linked to the web site   huerfano.k12.co.us.  It has various sites that will allow you to view information on school grades, scholarship links, contact information, sports calendars, etc.  The site is up and running, is improving everyday, and is available for anyone to view.

The Grant for the Fresh Fruit and Vegetables was approved by the board as well as the Passing Time Resolution.  The Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Progam  will provide additional fruits and vegetables to the students at no additional charge.  The Passing Time Resolution would take passing time minutes during the school day throughout the  year, and when enough approved hours have been met, the district can decide if a make up snow day would be needed.

The board approved the John Mall High School graduation date and time will be 10 am on May 16, 2009.
