by Sharon Niederman
RATON — According to Raton director of Economic Development Jessica Barfield, the city has awarded $625,000 of CARES Small Business Grant money to 16 local small businesses. The awards range from $3,000 to $100,000. This money is intended to cover losses incurred by the COVID pandemic.

These losses can include rent or mortgage payments, utilities, insurance, marketing, and non-owner payroll. Thorough documentation of loss is a must.
