WALSENBURG- Attorneys for Huerfano County and Presco worked out wording dealing with overseeing of drilling which suited both sides to move the project forward. County administrator, John Galusha, told the commissioners that he is ok with the 12 month period versus the 6 month period the county was wanting. He feels the county has pushed the matter as far as they can. Commissioner Art Bobian said to deny the permit would put the county in litigation and not win. Administrator, Galusha thanked the planning and zoning commission, building inspector, Steve Channel and the many citizens that gave their input.
Following the approval of the Presco project, the commissioners voted to put a moratorium on any new oil and gas drilling for a six month period. They could not put the moratorium on the Presco project because they had applied earlier. New regulations are coming.
