Pole Canyon lease is sold

HUERFANO- Ownership of the leases for the Pole Canyon wind farm has changed hands.  The previous owner was Samuel Gary Jr. & Associates.  They have sold their stake to Pattern Energy of California.

According to Kim Sachtleleben of Pattern Energy, “the Pole Canyon Wind Project has not stopped development,” but that development activities have been slowed down because the project was not short-listed on the last Public Service Company of Colorado Request For Proposals (PSCo RFP).  She said, “Pole Canyon is currently evaluating our options and we are hopeful we will be able to complete it over the next few years.”  When asked if they might break ground in 2010, she replied, “It’s a possibility…”

Information remains sketchy on who and what Pattern Energy is.  Their one-page website has this to say about them: “Pattern Energy Group LP is an independent, fully-integrated energy company that develops, constructs, owns and operates renewable energy and transmission assets across North America and parts of Latin America. Pattern Energy retains an 80-person staff, which developed, financed and placed into operation 2,000 MW of wind power in 11 states. Pattern Energy has a current development pipeline that exceeds 4,000 MW of wind power in 11 states and four countries in addition to several power transmission projects.”

Repeated calls and emails to Samuel Gary & Assoc. offices and their primary contact for Pole Canyon,  David Hettich, went unanswered.
