Pets of the Rocky Mountain Southwest: May 10, 2018

At 20 years of age, Josie the red-footed tortoise is a hardened criminal with a police record. He was on the lam for two weeks, notices were posted all around town, and the police received numerous calls from eagle-eyed residents who had seen him and did not know who he belonged to. All to no avail, as he disappeared each time before he could be apprehended, until one day he sauntered back down the hillside ready for his favorite meal, a Jimmy Dean breakfast bowl.

He also eats lettuce, strawberries, bananas, grapes and has just discovered blackberries. In solidarity with his cat housemates, he loves cat food too, Purina Natural for Indoor Cats is his preferred brand.

He curls up… well, he can’t actually curl… but he snuggles with the mama cat and her kittens.  He also makes funny little oinky sounds like a little pig.
