Panthers in Second Place

Center-The John Mall Panthers are in second place with 54 points behind Ignacio after the first night of competition.  the Cats achieved this with a strong performance from their stable of wrestlers.

Jacob Tenorio (1030 had a first round bye and will wrestle in the championship bracket.  A victory guarantees a sopt in the finaqls and a trip to state next week.

John Paul Vigil (112) also had a bye and will wrestle in the championship bracket.  He need one victory to advance to state.

Waylon Cordova (119) defeated Garrett Camper of Center on a major decision 17-4 to advance in the championship rounds. He will face a tough opponent in Brandon Brown, a senior with a 24-7 record. Cordova is the number two tournament seed and ranked number four in the state.

John Burch, (130) lost his opening round match by pin fall in 1:17 to James thompson of Cripple Creek.  Burch needs to win his next bout to remain in the tournament.

Brian Aguirre (135) won his opening round match over Kevin Park of Ignacio by pin fall at 4:59 in a close contest.

Shawn Dieckman (145) defeated Marco Ledezyme of Center to advance but lost his second round match to Logan star of Cripple Creek. He now needs to win his next two matches to qualify for Denver.

Eric figuerra defeated Dillon Gongales to advance in the championship round.  He needs one victory in his next two matches to quality for state.

Andre Ortiz defeated Derick Najaro of Ignacio to advance in the championship bracket.  He will face Ron Ortivez, the number one seed in the championship semi-finals.  Ortivez had a first ound bye.

Stuart {Pino (171) defeated Jarred bowman of Cripple Creek to advance to the semi finals.  He will face the number one seed, Coltan Wyatt, ranked number two in the state.  

Issiac Sierra, (215) had a first round bye and needs to win one bout to advance to state.

Heavyweight Lorenzo Trujillo defeated Eliott Blessman of La Veta to advance in the semi-finals.  He is one victory away from state.
