COTOPAXI 2/26/08 7:15 pm- The John Mall Panthers boys′ basketball team advanced to the second round of district play with an eleven point, second half, come from behind victory by defeating Cotopaxi 53 to 52. The Panthers lost to Cotopaxi last Friday in regular season play, but tonight′s victory is the only one that mattered- John Mall is in the playoffs and Cotopaxi is staying home.
The Cats play next in Florence Thurs. Feb 28. Their opponents more than likely will be the Hoehne Farmers. Charlie Whitehead scored the game winner with ten seconds remaining in the game to put the Cats ahead. Craig Eccher then knocked away the inbound pass, and Whitehead picked up the loose ball to secure the Cats′ incredible come from behind victory.
