Open Arms Holds Banquet

by Carol Dunn

WALSENBURG- Fifty-one people attended the first Open Arms Pregnancy Resource Center fundraising banquet on Fri. Oct. 10 at the Walsenburg Community Center.  Director Pam Tinsley told the attendees that since the office remodel was finished five months ago, the organization has already had two open house events, a Walk for Life and the banquet.  Tinsley introduced the steering committee, which first had the vision for a pregnancy resource center in Huerfano County.  She portrayed past and present Board members as the people who saw to the many details involved with making that vision a reality.  She then thanked the volunteers who have helped in myriad ways.

Speaker Dick Inzer recounted some of the tragedies and joys his family experienced while serving as an intake center for 815 foster children.  Pastor Alan Tinsley challenged attendees to take their commitment to the pregnancy resource center seriously, whether it be prayer support, volunteering time, or funding.

The banquet was catered by Martie Henderson, La Plaza Inn.  Special music was performed by Suellen Levy.
