Obituary- Virginia Edmundson

Virginia H. Edmundson was born April 28, 1920 in Pueblo, Colorado and departed this life on November 21, 2008 in Trinidad, CO.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Lewis E. Edmundson; parents Irma (Witt) and Clay M. Hughes; stepmother, Zitta (Wolf) Hughes; brother, Clay J. Hughes; and infant grandson, Jeffrey Edmundson.  Survived by son, Lewis A. (Katherine) Edmundson, Walsenburg; granddaughter, Kimberly (Darryl) Leslie, Alamogordo, NM;  grandsons Tyler (Kassi) Edmundson, Walsenburg and Chad (Natalie) Edmundson, Sugar City; great grandchildren, Caysen, Mayci, Dara, Reid and Trey and sister-in-law, Louise Newton, Pueblo.

      Virginia graduated from Centennial High School in Pueblo in 1937.  She and Lewis were married October 7, 1939 in the Methodist Church in Walsenburg.  They resided on their Huerfano County ranch until Lewis’s death in 1997.

    Virginia was a life member of Huerfano County Cowbelles and Colorado CattleWomen, an Honorary Life Member of FCE and past president and Life Member of the National Association of Women Highway Safety Leaders.  She was an excellent seamstress and served many years as a 4-H leader and clothing judge.  The United Church of Walsenburg was her church home.

      Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held at the United Church in Walsenburg, Friday, November 28, 2008, at 2:00 p.m.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association through the TG McCarthy Funeral Home.
