Verneice Giro Nardine was born May 12, 1926 and departed this life on May 7, 2009.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Nardine and daughter Pat Zgut, both of Walsenburg; her grandchildren Bill (Paulette) Zgut of Limon, CO and Lara (Mark) Taylor of Littleton, CO, and her great-grandchild, Zander Taylor.
Verneice was born in Walsen Camp, the daughter of John and Emma Giro. She lived her life in Walsenburg where she worked as the bookkeeper for Unfug Hardware for over 50 years. Verneice graduated in 1943 and was very active in the community, belonging to the Tabernacle Society, the KCettes and the American Legion Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed playing Po-Ke-No and Bunko with her friends. Those who loved her will always remember her as “Meme”.
