Our loving mother, grandmother, and sister Velma Hasenack, 85, entered into rest on February 1, 2013 in her home with her family by her side.
Velma was born on June 4, 1927 in Leadville, Colorado to Frank and Christine Robinson, their 7th child.
Velma graduated from Walsenburg High School in the year of 1948. On October 16, 1948, Velma married Fred Hasenack in Taos, New Mexico.
Velma is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and seven siblings.
Velma is survived by her three daughters, Jeanne (Sonny) Valdez of Scurry, Texas; Jan (Bill) Blackman of Phoenix, Arizona, and Karen (Billy Pacheco) Meares of Walsenburg, Colorado; Velma’s grandchildren, Kasie Valdez of Scurry, Texas; Billy (Corinna) Blackman of Phoenix, Arizona; Brandi (Chris) Ward of Phoenix, Arizona; Eston (Eve) Chandler of Bedford, Texas; Chris Meares of Acworth, Georgia; Rachel Meares of Woodstock, Georgia; great-grandchildren Brittany Ward, Christopher Ward, and Stacey Ward of Phoenix, Arizona; Megan Ward and Matthew Ward of Denver, Colorado. Also surviving are Velma’s six siblings, Elaine Hall of Alamosa, Colorado; Mary Jo Nason and Marlene Moore of La Veta, Colorado; Glenda (Jeff) Lay of Sun City, Arizona; Barbara Erwin of Milton, Washington, and Frank (Debbie) Robinson of Ecuador.
Velma was a cook at the Rambler restaurant for several years. She was also a very hard worker and a very giving person to all. She is and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
May our mother, grandmother, and sister rest in peace until we all meet again.
A family celebration of her life will be at a later date.
