Rose Melonas, of Walsenburg, CO entered into rest September 19, 2009 at the Castle Rock Care Center in Castle Rock, CO. Rose was born April 8, 1919 in Las Animas County, CO to Alcide and Marcella Odorozzi. She was 90 years of age.
Rose is survived by her son; Greg (Lori) Melonas of Parker, CO. Grandchildren; Jenise (Shannon) Gallegos of Pueblo, CO, Glen Melonas of Aurora, CO, Kenne (Olivia) Melonas of San Diego, CA, Sara Apolinar of Pueblo, CO, Teresa Apolinar of Parker, CO, 3 great-Grandchildren, brother; Harold (JoAnn) Odorizzi of Trinidad, CO, and sister, Lena Faoro of Florence, CO. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Melonas, both parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother.
Mrs. Melonas loved cooking. She also enjoyed going to all of her ladies clubs and traveling in the great outdoors. Her favorite pastime, however, was spending time with her grandchildren.
A Rosary will be held at 11 am, Thursday, September 24, 2009, followed by a Funeral Mass. Both services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Walsenburg.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnson-Romero Family Funeral Home.
