He is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Adeline Ortega, and a great-granddaughter, Raeven Ortega.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the US Army.  After his discharge from the service, he became a Radio Police Dispatcher, retiring after 37 years of service to the community.  He also worked at several other jobs: driving ambulance for his friend, Gilbert Olguin, serving with the volunteer fire department and working part-time for the Boies-Ortega Funeral Home.

Pete and Delphine were married for 41 years and were looking forward to their 50th wedding anniversary.  He was a very loving family man who loved family outings, barbeques, fishing, hunting and hanging out with his side-kick, Mia, his boxer.  He enjoyed visiting and hanging out with his special buddies, whom I would like to thank for being there for him: Jim Chavez, George Trujillo, John Garcia and his bro, Don Baros.  Also, a special thanks to his niece, Emily, for taking care of him.

Funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, August 22 at St. Mary Church in Walsenburg, with Deacon, John Luginbill officiating.
