Obituary – Patrice Noelle Paza

Patrice Noelle Pazar 6-22-1968 ~ 11-4-2014 Beloved daughter of Bill (deceased) and Charlene Pazar, partner to Jennifer Matthews, and sister to Michelle Pazar and Jim Bezio. Patrice (Trish) graduated from Golden High School in 1986 and from Colorado State University in 1990 with degrees in biology and biochemistry. After college, she did an internship at the Ryerson Preserve outside Chicago, followed by an internship at the Institute at the Monterrey Bay Aquarium, an internship at Woods Hole in Massachusetts and had also been a volunteer at Ocean Journey Aquarium in Denver. Because of health issues, Trish was not able to work in her fields of study but worked at Hatch’s Bookstore in Golden, the Boulder Bookstore and the Denver Public Library where she taught herself archiving and worked on the Western collections. She also worked at NCAR in Boulder as an archivist and created a website for scientists and their research documents. She loved animals, especially our dogs, and had an interest in wolves, black and white photography,

hiking, camping, bicycling, bird watching, snowshoeing, and skiing. One of her biggest achievements was taking a trip to France and skiing the steep, icy, very rugged slopes at Chamonix in the French Alps. Trish developed autoimmune hepatitis at age 11 and then rheumatoid arthritis. She would not let these illnesses prevent her from participating in sports in school and her other activities. She was ill for 35 years but, due to organ transplant criteria, she was never placed on the transplant list. She is survived by her mother, Charlene Pazar; her partner, Jennifer Matthews; sister, Michelle Pazar; and ‘big brother”Jim Bezio. She was preceded in death by her father, William (Bill) Pazar and her grandparents, John and Mary Pazar of Walsenburg. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 10:30 am at Calvary Episcopal Church in Golden. Interment of her cremains will be with her father’s. Donations can be made in her name to the Audubon Society or the Association for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (aspca.org/donations).
