Obituary Otha Daniel “Danny” Turner

Otha Daniel “Danny” Turner entered this earthly realm July 21, 1936 in Jones County, TX and left for his heavenly home on April 4, 2015 at the Spanish Peaks Community Living Center, Walsenburg, CO. Born to Otha Wilson and Vera Mae Acklin Turner, he was the third of four children. His mother died when he was four years old and Otha remarried in 1945 to Mary Ellen Snuffin. Preceding him in death are all of his parents; his brother Bobby Gene Turner; and sisters Peggy Lee Turner, Verna Barritt Lefler, and Christine Turner Caswell. He is survived by a step brother, Darold (JoAnn) Barritt; son, Marty (Tammy) Turner; daughter, Dana Turner (Jim) Ament; all of Eagle Point, OR. Others who will be missing him are his sister-in-law, Wynnelle Turner; nephews, Gary, Todd, and Jeff Turner, all of Colorado; and nieces Brenda Turner Casey and Melinda Turner Lahti of Battleground, WA. Danny was raised in Eagle Point, OR. He joined the Navy at age 17, and spent 18 months stationed in

Guam. He retired as a Safeway Meat Cutter and then worked with his brother, Bob, in the stucco trade both in Texas and Colorado. He helped finish the Huerfano County Sheriff’s office and jail in 1989. He resided at the Dakota Campground in Walsenburg for the past 20 years. Danny was a country western music lover and had written many songs to go with his talent playing the guitar. He taught himself to play the piano by ear in his teen-age years; he loved fishing and he had a Brown Belt in Karate. He loved western and horror movies and could tell you everything that the directors did wrong in the making of the movie. In school, he was considered the class clown, and all of his life he loved making everyone laugh, with harmless practical jokes being his specialty. Danny had a strong testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ and was confident that he would be seeing his best friend and brother Bob on the other side. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will take place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 615 Walsen Ave., in Walsenburg, on Saturday April 11, 2015 at 4 pm.
