Obituary- Netta Jane Easter

Netta Jane Easter 7-8-1936 ~ 3-5- 2014 Netta Jane Easter, beloved wife of Don Easter and much loved “Grandma” of Huerfano County’s “Grandma & Grandpa’s”, passed away on March 5th, 2014 at St. Mary Corwin Hospital after a battle with cancer. Netta was born toMoody and Georgina (Hache) Sims on July 8, 1936 in Pueblo at St. Mary Corwin Hospital and grew up in Fowler. On July 6, 1976 she and Don married, a union that lasted more than 37 years. Netta raised five children, Jerry D. (Sharon) Scoope, Helen E. (David) Murphy, Charlotte L. (Daniel) Cooper, David D. (Erin) Easter, and Debbie A. (Casey) Jones. She was a manager at US West, and received her BA in Business Administration in 1992 from Regis College at the age of 53. Netta was involved with Eastern Star and United Methodist Church, first in La Veta and, more recently, in Walsenburg. She was an active member of the Walsenburg Chamber of Commerce. Netta enjoyed reading, writing, genealogy, and any visit, short or long, by her kids, ten grandkids, and four great-grandkids. She was

predeceased by her parents; sister and brother-in-law Ursula Mary and Herbert Atkins; and brothers Dewight E. and James E. Sims. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Maxine Sims of Greeley and Wynona Sims of Fowler. Memorial services were held on Monday, March 10, 2014 at United Church of Walsenburg, with Pastor Bobby Barnhill officiating. Interment will be in Fowler, CO.
