obituary- Melissa Amber Gonzales

Melissa Amber Gonzales was born January 11, 1980 to Roy and Angelina Gonzales.  On January 27, 2011 at the age of 31 she departed this earth and flew to Heaven on angels’ wings.  She is survived by her children Gilbert Sonny the IV and Terrrell Valdez; parents Roy and Angelina Gonzales; brothers Roy (Barbara) Gonzales Jr., Randy (Amy) Gonzales and Duke (Hermina) Gonzales; sisters Yolanda Aguirre, Renee Alvarez, Sherry (Mark) Gomez and Sandi Gonzales.  She was blessed with a large extended family of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins that all truly loved her.  As a child Melissa was filled with life, she could light up a room with her smile and her laughter was contagious.  She possessed a very loving heart.  One of the greatest gestures she expressed was cutting her long beautiful hair to donate to “Locks of Love” for  a wig to be made for a cancer patient.  Her children were her pride and joy, her love for them was immeasurable.  She was not only their mother but their best friend.  Although, Melissa had so much love to offer no love could fill the void her lost soul searched for.  When she was young she dreamed of a life that had freedom, that had joy, but life crushed her soul with it’s demands and fool’s gold.  So she walked away from the life she was leading with her friends and now walks the Heavens with our Almighty Father.  Melissa will be greatly missed by all that truly loved her.  For death leaves a heartache no one can heal but love leaves a memory no one can steal.
Funeral services were held 10 am, Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Walsenburg with burial at South St. Mary Cemetery.  Reception of family and friends followed at  Eagles Hall.  In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
