Mary Kathleen Gill, beloved Partner, Best Friend and Soul Mate passed away at home (957 Arapahoe Drive in Walsenburg) of small cell lung cancer. She was diagnosed on her 64th birthday and 46 days later was taken by this dread disease. She was attended by many of her closest friends and the Sangre de Cristo Hospice in her final days, and she passed away in the confort of her own home thanks to all the Angels of Mercy from hospice, her closest friends and her partner, Mr. F. W. Dustin-Cooper of 1398 Cnty Rd 565 in Gardner.
Also in attendance were Mrs Lisa Reynolds, of Pueblo West, Pueblo CO, and Mrs. John McAneny, of Castle Rock, CO. In her final days, she was visited by many friends and relatives in her home, people from Louisiana, Wyoming, Colorado, Texas and cities near and far, for Mary knew many and helped even more in her tenure as Fire Rescue Chief of Louviers, CO. Mary was an angel on earth in the course of her short life span, and is now with the angels of Heaven that she served without selfishness here on Earth. She will be dearly missed by all.
A small memorial service will be held at her home, 957 Arapahoe Drive in Navajo, on the 28th of August 2011 for close friends and family members, and all that wish to attend that knew her. Ms. Mary Gill was a resident of the Gardner-Walsenburg area for 16 years (1995-2011). In her earlier years she was the Executive Vice President of the Arabian Horse Registry, located in Denver Colorado. She retired from that position in 1982 and went on to another career in the Medical Field (as mentioned). In the interim, Mary was certified as an underwater welder, scuba diving instructor, and a member of the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Department in Arapahoe CO. She served as a medical instructor for Emergency Medical Technicians in the communities of Littleton, Castle Rock, Louviers, and Sedalia CO for a number of years.
Mary is survived by Mr. Cooper, her life’s partner of Gardner, CO; Ms Laurie Collins and her two daughters, Brittany and Faith of Parker CO; her older brother Mr. Walter Collins and his wife Mary Jane, and their children of Sepulvada, CA.
Mary blessed many by her presence in this world, she will be deeply missed in person, but her kindness and love of all people whose lives touched hers, shall live on forever.
