Obituary Kimberley Ann (O’Rourke) Lessar

Kimberley Ann (O’Rourke) Lessar was born May 6, 1957 and went to be with the Lord on September 13, 2015, after a courageous battle against multiple health problems. Kim was raised in Walsenburg, CO and graduated from Walsenburg High School in 1975. Kim married her high school sweetheart, Randy Lessar, in 1975 and they had two sons, Jerad and Shawn. Kim worked many jobs in her short life, the most recent being as a home health care provider, which was very rewarding to her. Kim enjoyed cooking and baking and was well known for her cake decorating talent and the many specialty dishes she loved to make for her family. She always had a desire for making anything for her cherished relatives and friends, whether it be Potica or lasagna, or creating flowers and photo albums. Kim was a true believer in family and tradition and was very passionate about making the holidays quite special. She was also an avid horse lover and was most proud of her horse, Meadow. What brought Kim the most joy, however, was her family. No matter how Kim was feeling, she never missed an opportunity to spend time with her family and friends. She loved going to any sporting event to cheer on her family members

and she never missed watching Jerad and Shawn play ball. She was definitely their biggest fan. Kim was most proud of her granddaughters, Shelby and Sydney, and her grandson, Riley. They were the sparkle of her eye and nothing made “Nana” Kim happier than to spend time with them. Kim was active in her community as she volunteered at the Walsenburg Chamber of Commerce, and the La Veta Oktoberfest, as well as being an integral member of the Twin Peak Rodder’s Car Club. She never turned down a chance to get involved in community events, and you could always depend on her to be the first to volunteer. Kim will be greatly missed for her unlimited supply of smiles and laughs, but mostly for her enduring will to live and for the endless love and care she gave to anyone that was fortunate to know her. Kim created a life time of memories that will always be cherished by her friends and family. We are comforted in knowing that Kim will be our guardian angel and will watch over us until we meet again. Kim was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marie O’Rourke and her sister, Sister Regina O’Rourke, OP. Kim leaves behind to cherish her memory her lifetime companion, Randy Lessar; her sons, Jerad (Lynette) Lessar, and Shawn (Justine) Lessar; granddaughters, Shelby and Sydney Lessar and grandson, Riley Lessar; brother William (Irene) O’Rourke, Jr. and sister, Kathleen O’Rourke (Simon Sierra); special nieces Karina and Symone; and grandniece, Aneevae; aunt Lillian O’Rourke and Uncle Jim Fortarell; her “most dearest” friend, and “angel”, Karen Hacsi; lifelong friends, Debbie Piniol and Pam Snyder Martinez, and special friend, JoAnn Mares, as well as numerous close friends and relatives. Services will be held on Saturday, September 26 at St. Mary Church in Walsenburg, CO with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10 am, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass. Please join the family after the service to celebrate Kim’s life with a reception at Eagles Hall, 612 Main St., in Walsenburg.
