Obituary Juan Jaramillo

Juan Jaramillo 12-23-1930 ~ 8-21-2014 Juan Jaramillo, age 83, of Ulysses, KS, died Thursday, August 21, 2014 at his home in Ulysses. He was born December 23, 1930 in Gardner, CO, the son of Juan Miguel and Aurora (Cordova) Jaramillo. Juan grew up in Colorado, marrying Bernice Ortivez in March of 1989. He retired as a Staff Sergeant from the United States Army after serving for 24 years. Juan has lived in Ulysses, KS since 1989, working in construction. Juan enjoyed golfing, and was a huge Tiger Woods fan. His hobbies also included fishing, collecting coins and stamps, and bowling. Juan was a member of the Elks Lodge in Walsenburg, CO. Juan is survived by his wife, Bernice; children, Angie and Silas Covin of Ulysses, KS, Denise and Marvin Milburn of Ulysses, KS, Susan and Joseph Valdez of Ulysses, KS, Shelly O’Neal, and Mark Jackson of Walsenburg, CO, Mark and Sandra Westover of Ulysses, KS, Frank and Monica Gonzales of Rockwell, TX,

Patricia and Pete Ramirez of Mesquite, TX Johnny and Lisa Jaramillo of Euless, TX; 33 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.  Juan was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ben; and sisters, Elizabeth Sina and Lucille Velarde. Rosary was held on Sunday, August 24th and funeral Mass was on Monday, August 25th, both at Mary, Queen of Peace, Catholic Church in Ulysses, KS with Rev. Fr. James Baker officiating. Interment was at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, KS with military rites conducted by the Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79 and Kansas Army Reserves National Guard. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Catherine Hospice, c/o Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
