Obituary- John Edward Barnhouse

John Edward Barnhouse 9-12-2014 It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the death of John Edward Barnhouse on Friday, September the 12th. A private service is to be held at St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church in La Veta, CO at 10 am on Friday, September 19th. A celebration of his life will be held at 109 West 8th Street in Walsenburg from 4 to 7 pm. Family and friends are encouraged to stop by (Hawaiian shirts optional). John was born and raised in Austin, Texas before moving to Dallas. He graduated from Sam Houston State University. After graduating he worked and lived in Colorado and Texas. He owned and operated an outdoor power equipment business in Sherman, TX for 12 years. While in Sherman, he joined the Andrew Randall and Travis Masonic lodges where he also served as Worshipful Master. He relocated to southern Colorado in 1996 to build his retirement home on property he had owned for many years. In Walsenburg, he worked for Corrections

Corporation of America as a librarian before retiring. John is survived by his wife of 44 years, Vicki Barnhouse, and son Justin Barnhouse (wife Jennifer Coulter). Also surviving are his sister Rose Muros (husband Bill), two brothers, Robert and David, brother-in-law John Boucher (husband Randall Tyre), and by a large extended family. John was a loving husband, father, friend, and member of his community. He made friends where ever he went. John lived his life with humor, hard work, and love. He will be deeply missed.
