Obituary- Helen M. Maes

Helen M. Maes 4/11/1937 ~ 4/8/2014 Helen M. Maes passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her big loving family on April 8, 2014 in Castro Valley, CA at the age of 76. A beloved wife of Victor Maes, and loving mother of her three ‘jitos (sons), Leroy (Nicole), Ron (Lisa), and Russ (Linda), she was a proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, Anthony, Jilian, Trevor, Lauren, Vanessa, Tori, and R.J. Born April 11, 1937 in Walsenburg, CO, she was preceded in death by her parents, Benita and Procopio Pineda, and four siblings, Irvin, Alice, Lee, and Frankie. She is survived by five siblings, Annie of Pueblo, John of Kansas, Louise and Ed of Walsenburg, Patricia of Nebraska, and sister-in-law Rita of Pueblo. Helen was a devoted parishioner of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in San Leandro for over 40 years. She will be remembered for her warm heart, opening her home to many, making her famous chile, and being the strongest woman we know. Viewing will be Friday, April 11 from 3 to 7pm, with services at 7pm at Santos-Robinson Mortuary (160 Estudillo Ave. San Leandro). Mass will be at 10:30 am April 12 at Our Lady of Grace (3433 Somerset Ave. Castro Valley); funeral to follow at Holy Sepulchre (1051 Harder Rd. Hayward).
