Gerald R. “Jerry” Sandoval, 61, of Walsenburg, CO entered eternal life on February 1, 2016. He was born on December 30, 1954 to parents Ruben Ray and Martha Sandoval. Jerry served his community throughout his life and was an employee of the City of Walsenburg for 46 years. He was an avid hunter and loved to go fishing. Jerry was a member of the Walsenburg chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and was an active volunteer for the Huerfano County Care and Share food program. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Louise Sandoval; and children Rachel (Rick Rivera, Jr.) Sandoval, Nichole (Jeffrey) Dickinson, Jackie (Angela) Ortiz, Jr., and Leanne Lucero. He is also survived by his sister, Joann (Larry Lovett) Sandoval and grandchildren Jackie Ortiz III, Makayla Lucero, Derrick Ortiz, Daisha Ortiz, Julia Dickinson; and father-in-law Leroy Chavez; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and by his mother-in-law, Fern Chavez. Memorial services were held on February 6 at the United Church of Walsenburg. One of the greatest people to bless this earth, now in heaven will he reside.
