Obituary- Erminio Arellano

Erminio A. Arellano
1-11-1933 ~ 4-7-2011
Erminio Arsenio Arellano affectionately known as “Ernie” was born January 11, 1933 in Agua De Ramon. He was the first of fourteen children of Benjamin Arellano and Guerilamina “Wilma” Medina de Arellano. Ernie entered into rest on Thursday, April 7th, 2011 after a short illness.
He was raised on the family homestead during the depression years and as a young man of 13 years of age he found himself leaving home to go work on farms and doing some logging to help support his growing family. At 20 years of age he enlisted in the Army and did a three year stint in Germany, earning the Occupational Medal for his service.
Ernie loved to spend time with his family. He loved to watch Oprah and his soap operas as well. After Dad retired he got pretty set in his routine, which included George’s Drive-In from Tuesday to Saturday. I think that it wasn’t so much the wonderful food but the atmosphere of the great staff that he enjoyed. On Sunday and Monday he had lunch at the Huerfano. He also enjoyed his dinners at Corine’s.
Dad was the oldest of 14 children. He is preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Wilma Arellano; brothers Able, Alex, Manuel , Agapito and Amitos Arellano; sisters Lilian and Augustina Arellano; nephews Alex Jr (his godson) and Jeffrey Arellano; parents-in-law Celestino and Neopomosena Aragon; brothers-in-law Albert Velasquez, Alfonso and Billy Aragon, Wilfred Flores; and sisters-in-law Mary Flores and Gloria Aragon; goddaughter Martha Tarin; and his very special grand daughter Angel Ann Bast.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 44 years Annie Arellano; sons Adam Arellano, Roland (Amelia) Arellano, Arsensio “Archie” Arellano; daughters Yvonne (Michael) Griego, Sheri (James) Swope, Teri (Christopher) Neil; grandsons Rolando and Julio Arellano, Arsensio Arellano, Anthony Griego, Robbie Sims, Michael Ryan Griego, Jason Sims Jr., Malachi Neil, Erminio Neil, Aelwyn Arellano, and Adam Arellano Jr.; grand daughters Aeriel Arellano and Balize Sims; one great grand daughter Nevah Arellano; sisters Ruth Romero, Angie Velasquez, Helen (Dan) Kraus, Joyce (Dave) Peverly; brother Lawrence (Linda) Arellano; sisters-in-law Francis Aragon, Pauline Tarin, Adabella Manzanares, Lillian Arellano, Cora Aragon and Emma Aragon; god-daughter Juanita Martinez; and many nephews, nieces, friends and family.
Ernie was a remarkably thoughtful, hardworking and fun-loving person. Above all Ernie believed in family, faith and hard work, independence.
He was laid to rest at the North La Veta Cemetery on Monday, April 11, 2011.
