Edward Charles Johnson III, 64, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away March 12, 2012. His loved ones remember him as a strong, resilient and giving man who never started a task without finishing it and always did it well. Edward could be the poster man for the word “Integrity”.

Mr. ”Ed” also owned and operated multiple Subway locations with his wife Gudrun for 27 years, where locally he made Ed’s cookie club a community favorite.
Ed spent his last few years enjoying retirement and his six rambunctious grandkids, while working to try and help Walsenburg become a better place. He served on the Economic Development Council, where he was the chairman, diligently pursuing the development and completion of the Spanish Peaks Apartments.
In addition to his loving wife of 43 years, Gudrun Johnson, Ed is survived by his son, Dan Johnson; and daughter, Barbara Johnson. He was predeceased by his son Michael Hayes.
