David Frank Sanchez Sr., 64, of Pueblo, went to be with our Lord on March 28, 2013. Dave was born on November 3, 1948 in Manzanola, Colo. to Joe and Stella Barela.
Dave proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Dave retired from the City of Pueblo where he worked as a mechanic for 35-years with fleet maintenance.
Dave loved his green Ford Model A street rod with which he won many trophies at car shows. He loved fast cares and his Harley motorcycle which he enjoyed riding to Sturgis every year. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling with his grandkids and the love of his life, Theresa. Dave especially enjoyed going to Cripple Creek where he won many trips including a cruise to Alaska.
Dave was a very good-hearted, giving person with a great sense of humor and was such a gentleman. He was loved and will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
Dave is preceded in beath by his beloved son, David F. Sanchez Jr; father and mother, Joe and Stella Barela; adoptive parents, Ralph and Josephine Sanchez who raised him; brothers, Richard and Lawrence Barela; sister, Lorraine Barela; father-and mother-in law, Art and Gloria Garcia; in laws, Martha and Nancy Barela; John Jasdzewski, Hugh French, Art and Gabe Garcia; nieces Jamie Bobian and Alysa Rodriguez.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 42-years, Theresa; grandchildren, David III (Patricia) Emilio, Isaac Sanchez, and Nathaniel Lopez; great-granddaughter Tatiana Sanchez; daughter-in-law, Tracy Sanchez; brothers, Jim )Vela) Daniel, Geno and Bob Barela; sisters, Cathy Jasdzewski, Doris (Jim Gonzales) Barela and Stella French; sisters-in-law, Helen Barela, Linda (Keith) Mills, Beatrice Garcia Earnestine Trujillo and Debbie Garcia as well as by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and many, many special friends.
Rosary was held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 and funeral services were held Wednesday, April 3, 2013.
The family wishes to send special thanks to Sangre de Cristo Hospice and all the caring people who assisted in Dave’s care and those who prayed and supported us in our time of need, especially our niece, Victoria.
