Obituary- Bob Turner

    Bobby Gene Turner was born April 14, 1935 in Jones County, Texas to Otha and Vera Turner.  He left this earth unexpectedly August 12, 2009 at Ridgefield, WA.  He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Dale in 1971 and his parents.  He is survived by his wife of 55 years,Wynnelle of the family home in Walsenburg, CO; also children: Gary Daniel (Marlene) of Taos, NM; Brenda Laree (Marc) Casey of Battleground, WA; Melinda Wynnelle (Ray) Lahti of Ridgefield, WA; Todd Duane and Jeffry James of Walsenburg. 

    His nine grandchildren, Colbie Wynnelle (Kent) Lusted, Brandy Lauree Turner, Laree Aileen (Sam) Goska, Sarah Elizabeth (Dustin) Hunter, Chelsea Valentine, Robert Gene, Jake Daniel, Evan Dale and Derik Lee Turner, gave him great joy and happiness which was added to by four great grandchildren, Collin Marcus Hunter, Auralyn Adrianna Turner, Casey Roberts Lusted and Henry James Goska. 

    Bob was living his dream of raising cattle and building a small ranch after 50 years in construction.  He had recently retired from his stucco company, Triple T Contractors, which he owned with his sons.  He served in the US Navy at the end of the Korean Conflict and enjoyed years of annual reunions with his shipmates of the USS Uhlman DD 687.  He was a man of great humor, engaging smile and storyteller extraordinaire.  He lived his motto of “Don’t sweat the small stuff” and made everyone feel special.   He will be missed by wife, Wynelle; his brother and best friend Daniel Turner of Walsenburg; Darold Barritt of Eagle Point, OR; Sister Christine Caswell of Rangley, CO and Sister Verna Lefler of CA; nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends.  A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 615 Walsen Ave., Walsenburg, CO on Sept. 12, 2009 at 11 am.
