Some Lessons My Mother Taught Me •Be inquisitive about all things surrounding you. Explore different cultures, viewpoints and do not be afraid to ask questions. •Respect nature and all of her wonders and resources •Get your hands dirty. A little dirt, sweat, or grease will not kill you. Learning to plant, chop, push, pull, mow, or repair equals self-reliance. •How to deliver a joke and get the punchline correct. Laughter, especially at oneself, is priceless. •Keep things simple. (A warm bath and a good night’s sleep will help solve a lot of problems.) •Clean up your own messes. This lesson could encompass everything from taking your dirty dishes to the sink, to paying off your debts. Go rest high on that mountain, Mom. As ever, Kathy
