Bert Edward Faris was born May 26, 1977 in Pueblo, CO at St. Mary Corwin Hospital. Bert was the youngest of five siblings. Bert departed us March 7, 2016. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joe Edward Faris and Mary Alice Faris and his maternal grandparents, Frank Fink and Teresa Fink. He was also preceded by his Aunt Joy Faris and his Uncle Harold Fink. Bert is survived by the love of his life, his wife Sumer JoLee Faris; daughter Shelby Hope Faris; son Chance Donald Jade Faris; and his parents Joseph Raymond Faris and Diann Faris; also by his siblings Sabra (Doug) Vigil, Joe (Sherri) Faris, Tara (Chris) Dotter, and Julie (Chris Chavez) Faris. He is also survived by Donald Montoya, his father-in-law and Sherry Montoya, his mother-in-law and by his two sisters-in-law, Heather (Adam) Thoreson and Whitney (Sonny) Salazar. Bert will be missed by his wonderful nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins and, of course, by his cats and dogs, too. Bert was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. He also loved being on the ranch where he learned to be a cowboy at a very young age. He was a practical joker who loved to scare the kids on Halloween from under Don and Sherry’s front yard bushes. He would run and chase the trick-or-treaters down the street. Bert loved to build things and, like his Grandpa Fink, he often tinkered with anything he put his hands on. Sometimes, after taking things apart, he would cuss about having to put it back together. He loved to watch all kinds of sports. Since he was raised in Colorado, his favorites were the Broncos, Nuggets, Avalanche, and the Rockies. Bert was willing to give the shirt off his back for just about anyone, friend or foe. Services for Bert were held on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 11 am at the Huerfano Community Bible Church located on 6th and Leon in Walsenburg. A reception followed at the Community Center.
