Berlina was born on December 3, 1923, in Walsenburg, CO. She entered the Kingdom of God on June 22, 2011.
She attended St. Mary’s grade school and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. Berlina worked three jobs for fourteen years as a divorced single parent to be able to provide her son with a private education and to assist her parents.
She married Bob Prado in 1964, when her son graduated from high school.
She was a master seamstress and worked at Bayly Manufacturing Company in Denver for 23 years making jeans and overalls. She also worked as the Lead Seamstress Trainer at Colorado Outdoor Sports for 13 years making down filled jackets, tents and sleeping bags. She retired in 1988 and her boredom led to training as a bookkeeper and she went to work for her son’s business.
She loved to travel with her husband Bob and grandchildren and especially enjoyed a monthly trip to the slot machines in Blackhawk. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years Robert Prado; son Ken (Angela) Sandoval; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Eleanor Cordova; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Eva Harmes; and siblings Della, Charles and John Harmes.
Visitation and the Rosary were held in Denver, CO at the Newcomer West Metro Chapel on June 28. Her Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Denver on June 29, and she is interred at the Fort Logan Cemetery in area “B”.
Berlina will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
