Alice M. Giro entered into rest on March 5, 2012. She was born in Somerset, Colo. on October 10, 1929.
She was preceded in death by her husband P. Donald Giro and her parents Anton and Ann Plute.
Alice is survived by her children John (Inez) Giro of Pueblo and Deborah (Jay) Bevsek of Walsenburg; brother Robert (Mary Ellen) Plute of Paonia; grandsons Donald of Pueblo and Reggie and Robert of Walsenburg; by sisters-in-law Thelma (Dan) Ramsey and Sandra (Don) Steigerwald of Florida as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
Alice worked for the Soil Conservation Service for 43 years and for the Forest Service for 27 years. She retired at the age of 78.
She was a member of the Walsenburg Woman’s Club for 50 years. Alice was raised on the Western Slope across the road from the North Fork of the Gunnison River.
Rosary will be held at 10 am, Thursday, March 8, 2012 with the funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 am at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Walsenburg.
