Norton and Vezzani Honored

by Carol Dunn

LA VETA- Two special supporters of the 4-H livestock sale were honored before the auction began Sunday.  Louis Vezzani received an award for 35 years of attending and supporting the 4-H sale.  Vezzani said, “I thank you very much.  You have my full support.”  Minutes later, he was high bidder for the floorplan on the hogs.  Auctioneer Jake Norton was presented with an award for 45 years of helping with the auction.  Norton reminisced for a moment about the names and personalities that have been involved in the sale over years.  “You are lots of fun,” Norton told the audience.  “I love every one of you and so does God.”

The sale turnout was better this year, with lively bidding from regulars Pat and Honey Lou McConnell, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Cantrell, Sporleder Feeds, other area businesses and banks.  The affection the agricultural community has for its youth was tangible and uplifting.
