New Spanish Peaks Library District director takes over August 1st

WALSENBURG — The Board of Trustees of the Spanish Peaks Library District is pleased to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Bennhoff as the new library director beginning August 1, 2015. Bennhoff will replace Monica Birrer who will be retiring after 12-years leading the library district. Bennhoff has been working in public libraries for nearly ten years. She holds a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Denver. Bennhoff is active in the Colorado Association of Libraries and the Colorado Libraries for Early Literacy Association. She is committed to providing every person with the best library service possible and building strong relationships with the community. She enjoys working with kids and teens, building community partnerships, and planning awesome library events. Bennhoff and her family will be relocating to Walsenburg from south Denver. She grew up in rural northern Illinois, and Littleton, Colorado, while her

husband, Bob, is a Colorado native who grew up in the small mountain town of Georgetown. They are both looking forward to getting back to small town life and all the things Walsenburg has to offer. They both enjoy hiking and wonderful mountain views.  In her spare time, Bennhoff enjoys cooking, travel, photography, and of course, reading. The SPLD Board of Trustees plan to have a meet the new director event sometime next month.
