Michael ”Mouse” “Mac” McDonald deceased 9-28-2018

Michael “Mouse” “Mac” McDonald of Walsenburg and Littleton Colorado, was preceded in death by his beloved wife Faye McDonald.

He is survived by his wife Sherry. He was the father of Danielle Newman, Elizabeth McDonald and Bernadette McDonald; and the grandfather of Brendan, Noah, Sawyer and Holdyn.

Michael was born in Denver, the eighth of eleven children. In November 1972, he enlisted in the Navy and rose to the rank of 2nd Petty officer Engineman and was honorably discharged in March 1976.

After the Navy, Michael went back to one of his first loves, baking.

In 1988, Michael and his wife Faye moved to Walsenburg where he opened his own bakery, Anderson’s Bakery.

In 1992, after Anderson’s Bakery closed, Michael joined the BNSF Railroad. Michael worked on the BNSF Railroad until his diagnoses of ALS in November of 2016. Even after being diagnosed with a horrible debilitating disease, he never stopped fighting to live life to its fullest.

Michael was a family man. He loved every day he got to spend with his grandsons, daughters, and wife.

Michael died in his Littleton home on Friday, September 28, 2018 surrounded by his family.

The funeral services will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Walsenburg on October 20, 2018 at 10:30 am, with reception to follow at Monsignor Delaney Hall.
