HUERFANO- The Huerfano Journal, which has been a staunch supporter of all the schools in Huerfano County from our first issue, is launching a new fundraising effort for both Re-1 and Re-2 school districts.
Called the Make Cents program, it is based on the successful “Boxtops for Education”program which has people tearing up cereal boxes across America.
For every coupon that is returned to us, we will donate five cents to the Huerfano school district of your choice. A check for the collected amount will be written to the booster clubs of each district once a year.
From now on, there will be a “Make Cents” coupon in each week’s Journal. Simply tear it out (or cut; that’s good, too) and return it to one of the collection points we’re setting up across the county. For starters, you can always bring it by our office at 500 Main St in Walsenburg. More collection points will be announced as we set ‘em up.
There’s a box on each coupon where you can mark whether you would like your coupon to go towards the Re-1 or the Re-2 school district. If you leave it unmarked, we’ll simply split the end fund up between the two districts.
