Local Musician Signs with Taxim Records, Germany

WALSENBURG- Huerfano County’s own Steve Hohn has secured a recording contract with Taxim Records in Germany as a member of the band The Taints.  The longtime Walsenburg resident has been a fixture on the Southern Colorado music scene for the past thirty years but only made his recording debut in 2006 on Taxim’s “Rocky Mountain Blues” compilation CD.  He is the primary song-writer for the band and is featured as vocalist and guitarist as well. The group took shape nearly two years ago. Fred James, Nashville record producer (and summer resident of Huerfano County) put Steve together with well known Blues song-writer/recording artist Bleu Jackson.  The pairing bore fruit in the form of several excellent songs, and recording began in the summer of 2007.  In addition to Steve and Bleu’s vocals and songs, Fred also contributed several songs and the project was finished in October 2008.

The new CD “’Taint Blues” will be released in Europe in January and will be available in the U.S. on Amazon.com and better import record shops in February.  Fans of bands like Little Feat, The Flying Burrito Brothers and Credence Clearwater Revival will find much to like in the debut offering by The Taints.  The group will be touring regionally and nationally next year and they also hope to arrange a European tour.  A revamped version of the band (with recent additions “Fingers” Farrell on bass & Lenny Campanaro on drums) will begin recording their next release at Steve Hohn’s Fishing Hole recording studio in Walsenburg in early 2009.
