THATCHER – The Piñon Canyon Expansion Opposition Coalition is sponsoring the Piñon Canyon Square Inch Land Association, which aims to raise money to fight the proposed expansion of the Piñon Canon Maneuver Site by selling land- one inch at a time. The square inch parcel will cost $10.
Each inch of land will come from one acre, donated by Cathy Mullens, an area rancher and member of the coaltion. At six million square inches of land per acre, it conciveably net the PCEOC $60 million.
Lon Robertson, rancher and president of the opposition coalition, said group members are very excited;"This is a very unique idea that I think a lot of people are going to jump on the wagon with," Robertson said.
