LA VETA- The Lady Redskins won their opening game of the season against the Hoehne Farmers last Thursday 56-39. The ladies came out fired up and ready to get a victory. Sami Willhoite and Christina Koutnik were on their A-game: Willhoite had 16 points, 8 steals and 4 assists; Koutnik had 15 points, 3 steals and 7 rebounds; and Jacey Day had 11 rebounds.
Coach Smith said, “I was very pleasantly surprised how well we played, as we got a late start with our practices due to the girls still competing in volleyball.” The Lady Redskins worked well as a team and dominated their home court throughout the game.
Tuesday, the ladies traveled to Walsenburg to take on the John Mall Panthers. La Veta won big; 80 to 30.
Tonight the ladies will be traveling to Hoehne to compete in the Hoehne tournament.
