La Veta takes win number four from Aguilar

by David High

AGUILAR — It was a quick trip to Aguilar last Thursday for the La Veta boys, and an even quicker game against their neighbor to the south as the short handed Wildcats were no match for the visiting Redskins. Only six players suited for the home team as the Redskins flew to a 37-5 halftime lead.

La Veta freshman Carson Miller played an outstanding game, hitting from inside the arc (6-12) and from long range (4-6).

Not much else can be said except that the Redskins shot a season high 37 percent from the field and 56 percent from the free throw line to take the victory in stride with the final 66-9.

Miller scored a personal high 27 points to lead La Veta to the big win. Ty Warren added 12 points and led in the rebounding department with nine total boards.

Other La Veta highlights on the night were Ian Vallejos and Miller with seven assist; Alex Mondragon eight rebounds and 4-4 from the charity stripe. Jose Aguirre, Dalton Mason, Cage Eddleman, and Eric Morgan put their names in the scorebook also, as the Redskin hot offense rolled to another league win.

Aguilar senior Taylor Wheeler was the scoring leader for the Wildcats with six hard earned points to go with two blocks in the loss. La Veta 18 19 20 9 66 Aguilar 2 3 4 0 9
