It’s Blooming Nails this summer

WALSENBURG- Darla Haught has worked various jobs in her life, but now she is her own boss with her own business. Many people dream of this, but not many have the intestinal fortitude to go without a regular paycheck.

Haught has just opened BloomingNails at 622 Albert Street in Walsenburg, across from Safeway.  She has worked strenuous jobs in her life, but because of an injury from an assault, she had to find a career that would require less standing.  Because she has always wanted to learn a trade, she enrolled at Center Beauty College in Pueblo to learn nail care.  After graduation last year, she went to work at Studio 909 in Walsenburg to gain experience before opening her own business.

Blooming Nails is having an open house this Saturday, May 31 from 10 am to noon as part of the Huerfano County Chamber of Commerce new business program.  It’s an opportunity to meet Haught and learn about her services.  She does manicures, pedicures, gels, acrylics and fiberglass nails. She will soon be adding “air brushing” to her offerings.  Anyone making an appointment during her open house this Saturday will get a 25% discount on their first visit.  Her new business number is not in the phone book yet: it’s 989-8323.  The shop is open Tuesday through Saturday. Haught will take walk-ins but reservations are appreciated.

Haught offers professional nail care services to delight any client.  She emphasizes cleanliness and sanitary conditions in her shop.  “BloomingNails won’t sacrifice the care of customers for speed,” she says.

Haught comes from a long line of family involved in local history. Relatives homesteaded in La Veta and worked the coal mines of Huerfano County for years.  Haught moved to the area in 1995. She is married to Thayer Haught and they have two children, Hehr and Drury.
