Community Banks donates furniture to SCCY
Community Banks of Colorado’s Walsenburg banking center donated office and living room furniture to Sangre de Cristo Youth Center in Walsenburg. Below: youths help with the move.
SCCY offers a wide array of programs such as Creative, Responsible, Educated Women (CREW) and Journey from Boys to Adult Men (J-BAM), which focus on positive youth development and life skills. The Roots Garden Project provides youth with the opportunity to watch the growing process from seed to harvest. Youth Trek is an outdoor club that provides the youth with outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and other physical activities. After school activities are available on Mondays and Wednesdays, and this time is also available for after school tutoring, as one of the facilitators is a certified teacher. Youth sports also is accessed at the center, offering soccer, basketball, and summer T-Ball through a long-standing partnership with the Colorado City Parks and Recreation.
